Clear color boro glass tube
Glass can be divided into the following 8 grades:
1. Ordinary Glass It is ordinary white glass, with single-layer thicknesses of 5mm, 6mm, etc. It is relatively cheap, but neither heat-resistant nor impact-resistant.
2. Float Glass Different from the processing technology of ordinary glass, float glass has smooth and uniform surfaces, good transparency, no glass defects or bubbles, a dense structure, heavier weight, and is easy to cut and less likely to break. It is the best glass for civil buildings, and its price is only slightly higher than ordinary glass. There are mainly three methods for making flat glass: drawn flat glass, flat-pulled flat glass, and float glass. The first two mainly produce thin glass less than 5mm thick, with poor flatness and thickness difference, which can only meet the needs of closure and lighting, and cannot be used for deep processing, especially not suitable for making various coated glass. However, due to its low price, it is still widely used in low-end construction, while float glass has better performance than the first two.
3. Tempered Glass Tempered glass is made by cooling after high-temperature processing of float glass, also known as safety glass, with a hardness twice that of ordinary glass. Tempered glass is hard and not easy to break, and when broken, it becomes granules that won’t hurt people, so it is also a kind of protective glass. Tempered glass cannot be drilled, and holes need to be made before tempering. According to national standards, each piece of tempered glass must have a “CCC” mark. Tempered glass can be processed into single-layer glass, insulating glass, laminated glass, and can also be coated.
4. Coated Glass Coated glass, also known as heat-reflective glass, is made by evenly coating multiple layers of metal or metal oxide on the glass surface, effectively controlling the transmission of visible light and near-infrared light. It has good shading properties, making the indoor light soft and comfortable; it has good heat reflection ability, which can save energy. Low-e glass is one type of coated glass, which can reflect more than 80% of far-infrared heat radiation, has good heat insulation effect, prevents heat loss in winter, and prevents heat from entering in summer, saving a lot of air conditioning costs.
5. Double-layer Glass It replaces traditional single-layer glass with two pieces of glass, but the air layer between the two pieces of glass is not sealed with good sealing material, leading to easy entry of dust and water vapor, and poor performance.
6. Insulating Glass An improved version of double-layer glass, it uses high-strength, high-airtightness composite adhesives to bond the glass sheets with aluminum alloy frames containing desiccants, creating high-performance soundproof and heat-insulating glass. It ensures that the air layer between the glass remains dry, free from water vapor and dust, and the insulating layer can provide heat insulation and soundproofing effects.
7. Laminated Glass It consists of two or more pieces of glass with organic resin films (usually PVB, but also EVA or SGP) in between, pressed together in a hot press to remove as much air as possible, then placed in a high-pressure steam autoclave to dissolve the remaining air into the film under high temperature and high pressure, resulting in high strength. When the glass breaks, it still adheres to the PVB film and won’t fall off, providing good soundproofing and UV filtering functions.
8. Vacuum Glass Compared to insulating glass, the layer between the glass in vacuum glass is in a vacuum state.
