Glass Electrode Plate
1. What is a glass electrode? A glass electrode is an electrochemical sensor that offers the advantages of high sensitivity and high precision. typically consists of a thin glass tube with a reference electrode and a sensitive membrane inside. Glass electrodes are commonly used to detect the pH value of solutions, and they can be used to measure physical and chemical parameters such as ion concentration and oxygen content.
2. How does a glass electrode work? The glass membrane is usually a silicate which undergoes a chemical reaction when it comes into contact with a solution, causing a change in the surface potential of the glass membrane. A layer of Ag/Ag electrolyte gel is filled between the reference electrode and the glass membrane, which can provide a stable reference potential. When the glass membrane comes into contact with the solution, locally generated electron flow will cause a change in the potential difference between the glass membrane and the reference electrode, thus generating a certain electrical signal
