How to clean common glassware and test tubes in the laboratory?
If glassware and test tubes are not cleaned after use, some impurities will remain, which will affect the accuracy of the next experiment. How to clean glassware and test tubes commonly used in laboratories? It’s not just water that can be cleaned. There are still many tricks in it.
1. Confirm the nature and degree of contamination of glassware and test tubes. Different methods of cleaning up dirt are also different. For the same type of dirt, different treatment methods can be used with different degrees.
2. Dust and water-soluble substances adhere to the glassware. It should be cleaned with water and a brush.
3. Deoxidizer is attached to glassware. It can be cleaned with reducing agent.
4. Oil stains and organic matter adhere to glassware. In addition to volumetric instruments, other glassware and test tubes can also be cleaned with dirt powder (or detergent) and brushes. If the stain is deep, it can be cleaned with hot alkaline solution.
5. For quantitative analysis, use a saturated solution of concentrated sulfuric acid (lotion) to clean the measuring tools with potassium dichromate. Before using the lotion, it is best to clean the container with water or detergent, pour out the water in the container, and then put it in the lotion. After washing, wash the detergent with water first, and then wash it with distilled water three times.
6. The lotion can’t remove the reducing dirt, and the lotion is very corrosive, so you must protect yourself.
7. Turn the glassware upside down and the water runs down the wall. There will be no water droplets on the wall, but a thin and uniform water film. At this point, the glassware and test tubes have been cleaned.
